Out of a desire to simply post something, I'm gonna hate on a game I played for 10 factoring minutes: Dream Warrior!
The premise of the game is that it claims to be innovative even though it isn't. What a zetta lovely premise! Despite the game's claims, I see nothing unique about it, except that you beat a zone when you level up, not when you kill a boss. While not necessarily bad, I don't see this as the kind of innovation that makes me want to play a game. But, considering a lot of inverse idiots liked this factoring kwaste of ilobytes, I guess I must be wrong. Imagine that!
Combat involves looking at the enemy's hp and determining how many skill points you need to expend to kill it in one hit. There's a small timing minigame involved with using skills, but once you realize you're failing at it because there's a delay between clicking and your click being registered, and you realize that the delay lasts for a uniform amount of time every click, you'll get critical hits like they're going out of style. This means you probably won't need to expend that much sp to one-hit kill an enemy, so resource management isn't that big an ussue. Sure, I didn't play for that long, but I can't imagine the game getting much harder.
The equipment system is extremely linear: this costs money, but it is an upgrade. Items are divided to suit different classes, and that's it! The upgrade system is also really linear. You spend points, and you get new skills. The same points can be spent to upgrade stats, which often cost more than skills, which is strange since skills can easily be used to one-hit kill enemies and items are a more efficient way to upgrade stats anyhow. Plus, getting enough skills gives you a new "class", which grants you stat bonuses. You can also multiclass if you're too stupid to realize that higher-level skills can one-hit kill enemies and is also simply ineffective since skills don't do anything but damage anyways, why would you make a mageknight that needs both strength and magic to be effective?
There was a minesweeper-like minigame that I found fun, possibly because I've never played minesweeper before. I understand minesweeper is very easy to obtain for free, so I'm gonna go look for it now instead of playing Dream Warrior.
Given that the combat, character building, and equipment system suck, what's the appeal to Dream Warrior? Well, there's a lot of woman wearing revealing clothing. You can't find that anywhere else on the internet. And oh, yeah, level grinding! Level grinding is fun, that's why I'm going to play shadowreign rpg, a flash game that knows what it's doing when it comes to level grinding. Or I could play Titan Quest, I do recall not getting halfway through that game since I love level grinding so much. Maybe I could even get my World of Warcraft account going again, that had a fun crafting system. What I won't do is play Dream Warrior.
