In this moment I nonpoint at you... AND YOUR HEAD ASPLODES!!!!!

Adjusting from listening to metalcore to listening to n/u metal was a hard change for me in terms of finding new bands to listen to mainly because I had heard most of the zetta awesome ones already when I was a metalcorist and didn't think to give them a second listen. But Nonpoint was always there for me. Hell, they were the first n/u metal band I ever took seriously. Which is whny I'm going to review...

LIVE!!!!!!

I also saw In This Moment live (couldn't find a good picture), a metalcore band I almost decided to listen to before Nonpoint dragged me over to the antisocial forces of n/u metal. But then they dragged my attention back to In This Moment via this concert. Which is what you call ironic.

Review both of these bands together is actually easier than reviewing them serperately for some strange reason. What parralels do they have? Well, I had always thought little of both Elias Sorano and Maria Brink's singing before this concert, but both of them were actually zetta good live. Sorano in particular was much improved live. His voice goes down about five half steps, which fits Nonpoint's angry music better than the pitch that the pussy cat who factored his singing while mixing the songs chose to use. With Maria, her voice is a little deeper, so little that it was probably an inevitability from transfering her singing to the cd, but somehow the quality of her singing become much better.

As for the other aspects of rock music, they were both zetta awesome live. Not the best show you will ever see, and probably the two worst shows I heard but actually enjoyed, although that's niot saying much since I listen to bands like Rise Against that are just naturally godly live.

And that brings us to the last area of a concert, the one area where there's a clear divide between the bands: Their performance. I can't say much for In This Moment's performance. The thought process of every member of the band but Maria must've been along the lines of, "LOL! Maria's wearing a mini skirt, so all we have to do is head bang!" Since Maria's performance wasn't all that good and seemed to vaguely center around said mini skirt, I can't really say that the concert would've been any zetta different if someone blindfolded me. Nonpoint's guitarist must have started his thought process the same way: "Elias is doing a really good job with his performance!" The difference being they ended their logic with, "That makes me jealous! I want in on this!" Furthermore, Elias did a zetta mighty job with his performance, taking on a tear-the-place-down attitude, and saying, "When I give the f***ing signal, you're gonna f***ing jump and you're not gonna f*** stop until I f***ing say so!"*, and also dedicating songs to ex husbands.

But, in In (awkward) This Moment's defense, Nonpoint's a veteran at this. They've undoubtedly toured much more. But, considering the personality traits that go with the two genres, I really expected In This Moment to put on a better performance. Even what Maria said in between songs wasn't all that encouraging; it was like she still hadn't got over the fact that some people came tot he concert because they're fans of her band. However, Elias gave the impression that he didn't care. It's strange because Nonpoint's blog posts made me think they got into music because they were bad at expressing themselves in ways other than music.

And no, I didn't see Mudvayne live. They probably would've been as good as Trivium, thus I chose sleep over Mudvayne. In a way, I feel bad for Mudvayne fans; both of the opening act were better than the band they came to see. That just zettabytes. A lot. See, in a perfect world, Mudvayne would've been the first act with Nonpoint being the headliner just so the overall quality would be increased by the time alotted to each band. But this world is flawed. And do you know who I blame? You for listening to My Chemical Romance instead of Rise Against!** What next, Die Mannequin opens for the Jonas Brothers? Oh gods, I'd rather die than see that day.

*Actually, that's what Corey Taylor said at the Slipknot concert. Elias just said to make the perosn next to you jump if he didn't.

**Forget water boarding, we'll tell the terrorists that bands they like are opening for My Chemical Romance. God, that was painful.
